• About AfroQuality
AfroQuality is building a multi-country African retail and distribution platform curating premium African brands across fashion, lifestyle, accessories, and home. We operate physical stores in Kigali, Nairobi, and Accra, and are expanding into additional Anglophone and Francophone markets.
We are now at a critical stage: stabilising and professionalising our commercial engine before scaling into new markets.
This role is about ownership and execution, not strategy decks.
• The Role
We are looking for a hands-on
• Head of Commercial & Growth
to take day-to-day ownership of commercial performance across our operating markets.
This is an embedded operating role. You will work closely with the Founder but own execution across stores, product mix, and growth alignment.
This is not a corporate C-suite role. It is a venture-stage leadership position with real responsibility and clear accountability.
• What You Will Own
• 1. Commercial Performance
• Own revenue performance across all operating stores.
• Improve conversion, basket size, sell-through, and margin discipline.
• Drive in-store execution standards and assisted selling effectiveness.
• Establish weekly commercial reporting cadence and accountability.
• 2. Product & Assortment Leadership
• Shape category balance and pricing logic.
• Improve product mix coherence and commercial viability.
• Identify slow-moving inventory and optimise assortment.
• Work with brand partners to improve sell-through performance.
• 3. Growth & Brand-to-Sales Alignment
• Ensure storytelling translates into commercial outcomes.
• Align marketing and in-store execution.
• Work with performance marketing lead to link digital activity to sales.
• Drive repeat purchase and customer retention logic.
• 4. Team Leadership
• Lead country operations leads and relevant commercial team members.
• Instil execution rhythm and clarity.
• Reduce founder involvement in day-to-day commercial tuning.
• Create accountability culture without over-bureaucratising.
• 5. Commercial Readiness for Expansion
• Stabilise execution before replication into new markets.
• Ensure reporting and unit economics are clean.
• Prepare the commercial playbook for multi-country expansion.
• What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
• Clear commercial ownership sits with you.
• Founder is no longer solving store-level commercial issues.
• Conversion and basket size show measurable improvement.
• Product mix decisions are data-informed and disciplined.
• Weekly reporting rhythm exists and is used.
• Commercial execution feels structured, not reactive.
• Who You Are
• 4–6 years in retail, FMCG, or consumer growth.
• Have owned revenue or P&L responsibility.
• Have managed multiple locations or teams.
• Comfortable working with imperfect data.
• Bias toward action over analysis paralysis.
• Will physically show up in stores.
• Comfortable operating in East, South or West African markets.
• Not prestige-driven. Motivated by building.
• What This Role Is Not
• Not a remote advisory position.
• Not a fractional executive role.
• Not a purely strategic or branding position.
• Not a consultant mandate.
This is an embedded builder role.
• Compensation & Alignment
• Competitive venture-stage salary
• Performance-linked upside.
• Equity pathway for strong long-term alignment.
• Full-time commitment expected.
• Why Join Now
AfroQuality is at a turning point.
We have
• Multi-market footprint
• Strong brand narrative
• Expansion runway
We now need disciplined commercial execution to unlock scale.
If you want to build something continental and grow into a true C-level mandate over time, this is that opportunity.
