The Lead For Africa leadership development program offers a transformative two-year leadership experience for passionate individuals seeking to drive positive change in Africa. Associates are placed in diverse communities across the country, working directly with local leaders and organizations to address pressing challenges in education and community development. Through immersive fieldwork and hands‑on projects, associates gain valuable insights into the complexities of African society while developing leadership skills and fostering meaningful connections with community members.
Over the two-year period, associates will actively work to improve student outcomes in their host community by teaching in their placement school and designing innovative interventions to address existing learning gaps with the support of their leadership growth manager. Additionally, associates are required to complete a capstone project by the end of their leadership development journey, which is a prerequisite for successful completion and induction into the Leadership Network.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of the placement country they are applying to or must hold a valid work permit in their country of residence at the time of application.
• Educational Requirement: Possess at least a bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of obtaining one from an accredited institution.
• Willingness to be placed in any province of the host country.
NB: Associates are placed outside their home province to encourage tolerance, empathy, and cultural understanding, giving them a wider view of Africa’s challenges and possibilities. This strengthens associates’ leadership and prepares them to create positive change.
BENEFITS OF THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
1. Career Development Opportunities: Our leadership development program offers final-year students the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in leadership, education, project management, and community engagement. This experience will equip them with valuable skills for their future careers.
• Networking and Mentorship: Associates have access to a diverse network of education professionals, mentors, and dedicated Lead For Africa coaches (Leadership Development Managers) providing invaluable support and guidance as they navigate their leadership journey.
• Impactful Service: Through their work in schools, associates have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and communities, contributing to positive social change and sustainable development.
• Leadership Network: Upon completing the leadership development program, associates are inducted into the Lead For Africa Leadership Network, fostering continuous collaboration, mentorship, and professional development. The network serves as a catalyst for the ascension of its members into leadership roles.
• Financial Provisions: It is a two-year paid position with a competitive salary and benefits.
