• Summary of Responsibilities
- Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Major Performance Functions
- Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals
- Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, gate processes, and shipping
- Develop a strong work ethic and trust element within the warehouse
- Train and manage a warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short
- and long-term performance goals
- Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing inventory and logistics
- Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulation
- Ensure that warehouse is aligned with demands from Dispatch, Production and Retail
- Ensure all materials and procedures are in place at the start of each day
- Ensure that production reports, stock reports, return reports and other required documents are correct
- Ensure that all staff are adhering to the correct PPE requirements
- Must have knowledge of warehousing system management programmes
- Ensure materials received are checked and health and safety sanitation requirements have been met
- Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.
- Schedule and oversee warehouse team to meet the demands of the fulfilment centre, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
- Must adhere to overtime policy in place
- Overall building maintenance
- In charge of all GWP and OHS regulations
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed
- Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyse, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention
- Oversee and manage logistics utilized to transport products to customers and internal facilities, communicating with drivers and air partners to ensure efficient delivery of packages
- Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment
- Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
- Work closely with legal and safety departments to make sure activities remain compliant
- Oversee materials and inventory management
- Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management
- Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
- Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity
- Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives
- Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget
- Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as neededInherent Requirements
- A minimum of Matric with a logistics diploma- 10+ years’ experience in a warehouse lead role managing hourly employees
- Proficient knowledge of warehouse procedure and policy
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work with all levels of company staff
- Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
- Experience within Logistics and Warehousing will be advantageous
