Introduction
The successful candidate will report to the General Manager, and the responsibilities will include the following:
Purpose of Role:
The Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing and purchasing all materials, services, and supplies required by the business. This includes evaluating suppliers, obtaining and reviewing quotations, placing approved orders, and ensuring timely deliveries to support production and general operational needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supply Management
• Coordinate the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services according to operational and production requirements.
• Source, evaluate, and develop new suppliers when required.
• Place weekly orders aligned to the production plan and prepare weekly reconciliations.
• Monitor long-term forecasts and adjust procurement planning accordingly.
• Manage supplier logistics, delivery timelines, and order tracking.
• Maintain accurate supplier pricing records and reconcile invoices for approval.
• Ensure regular cycle counts and stock takes are performed as per company requirements.
• Oversee warehouse packing processes to ensure efficiency, product availability, and minimal wastage.
• Adjust procurement and warehouse processes proactively to prevent production disruptions.
People Management
• Provide leadership and supervision to the procurement and warehouse teams.
• Set departmental goals and monitor achievement.
• Apply people-management processes: workforce planning, recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations in accordance with company policy.
• Promote a positive working environment that enhances staff morale, engagement, and productivity.
Health, Safety, Governance & Compliance
• Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor food safety and operational safety trends and address issues proactively.
• Respond promptly to customer and supplier concerns.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all areas of responsibility.
Quality Management
• Ensure full alignment of procurement and warehouse processes to required quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Implement corrective actions within agreed timeframes to address non-conformances.
• Support quality initiatives and integrate them into daily operations.
• Conducting routine maintenance as well as preventative and planned maintenance activities
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required Qualifications and Experience
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or similar (preferred).
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment (FMCG industry).
• Experience supervising or managing a small team (advantageous).
• Strong working knowledge of procurement systems, stock management, and logistics processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential) and ERP systems.
Technical Skills
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyse demand forecasts and manage purchasing cycles.
• Knowledge of inventory control methods and stock accuracy processes.
• Understanding of logistics coordination and delivery management.
• Ability to interpret pricing structures, reconcile invoices, and manage cost controls.
• Familiarity with safety, quality, and compliance standards in a production environment.
