Position Summary
The Railway Interface Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing the technical and functional interfaces between various railway systems, subsystems, and civil works to ensure seamless integration, compliance with project requirements, and efficient delivery of the overall system. This role acts as a key technical liaison among design, construction, and systems teams, ensuring alignment across multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify, define, and document all internal and external interfaces between systems (e.g., Signaling, Telecom, Power Supply, Rolling Stock, Track, Civil, and MEP).
• Prepare and maintain the Interface Control Forms (ICFs), the Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Matrix.
• Facilitate regular interface coordination meetings between design and construction disciplines.
• Track and close interface issues through the Interface Management Register.
• Support integration between civil/architectural works and railway systems.
• Ensure compatibility between subsystem designs (e.g., SCADA, Telecom, Signaling, Traction Power, PSDs, etc.).
• Review design submissions and ensure compliance with standards (EN 50126/128/129, IEC, IEEE).
• Provide input to design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site integration tests (SIT).
• Prepare and review interface reports, status updates, and technical notes.
• Ensure that all interface points are documented, approved, and controlled through the change management process.
• Support the Systems Integration Plan and Interface Management Plan preparation.
• Act as technical contact between Engineering teams and other external parties.
• Support coordination with civil and architectural contractors regarding systems provisions and installation readiness.
• Ensure interface management activities comply with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements and relevant safety assurance standards.
• Support RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) teams in demonstrating system integration compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in railway, metro, or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in systems interface management and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong understanding of railway systems (Signaling, Telecom, SCADA, PSD, AFC, Power, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex multidiscipline technical interactions across multiple teams.
• Proficiency in preparing and managing interface documents and registers.
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on achieving integrated project delivery.
