Mental 360 is a youth-led mental health organization working to improve access to mental health support through community wellness centres, school programs, creative engagement, and digital innovation. We are committed to building safe, inclusive spaces that promote well-being, reduce stigma, and strengthen community mental health systems across Kenya.
The Communications team plays a key role in storytelling, advocacy, public education, and visibility of our work. We are looking for a creative and proactive intern who can support graphics design, social media management, and digital campaigns, while demonstrating the ability to think strategically about communication and audience engagement.
• Position Summary
We are seeking a creative, reliable, and strategically minded Social Media & Graphic Design Intern to support the Communications team in developing visual content, managing social media platforms, and assisting in the execution of digital campaigns.
This role is best suited for someone who already has some real-world experience in social media management, digital content creation, or communications work, and who is interested in growing their skills in communications strategy within a fast-growing social impact organization.
The intern will not only create content, but will also be expected to understand the purpose of campaigns, contribute ideas, and support the effective communication of Mental 360’s programs and initiatives.
• *Key Responsibilities
• *Content Creation & Graphic Design
• Design social media graphics, posters, banners, presentations, and other branded materials in line with organizational brand guidelines
• Support development of visual content for campaigns, events, and program activities
• Adapt content for different platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, WhatsApp, etc.)
• Assist with basic photo and video editing
• *Social Media Management
• Support planning and scheduling of social media content
• Support creation of engaging social media content including captions, reel concepts, stories, and graphic briefs
• Assist in managing and updating social media platforms
• Stimulate and monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages where appropriate
• Track basic performance metrics and help prepare simple analytics reports
• *Campaign & Communications Support
• Assist in developing and running digital campaigns for programs and events
• Contribute ideas for content themes, storytelling, and audience engagement
• Support promotion of organizational activities, trainings, and public events
• Help ensure consistency of messaging across different platforms
• *Strategic Contribution & Learning
• Participate in communications planning meetings
• Demonstrate ability to think beyond posting and understand the purpose of campaigns
• Suggest improvements to content, design, and engagement
• Support development of templates, content calendars, and communication materials
• *Administrative & Media Support
• Help organize design files, templates, and visual assets
• Assist in documenting events through photos, short videos, and social media coverage
• Support the preparation of newsletters, reports, and promotional materials
• *Qualifications and Requirements
• Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field
• Must have some real-world experience in at least one of the following:
• Managing social media pages
• Creating digital content for an organization, business, or project
• Graphic design for campaigns, events, or online platforms
• Supporting communications or marketing activities
• Ability to use design tools such as:
• Canva (required)
• Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign / CapCut / similar tools (added advantage)
• Understanding of basic branding, layout, typography, and visual communication principles
• Familiarity with major social media platforms and content formats
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is valuable
• Strong creativity with attention to detail
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
