About The Role
Seeking a high-caliber Electrical Project Engineer with 7+ years of experience to lead our electrical system. You will ensure SANS compliance and technical excellence from design to commissioning for reliable electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Lead Electrical Design Review & Technical Oversight
• Design and review electrical systems (LV/MV, power distribution, lighting, grounding) using relevant engineering tools and standards.
• Validate load calculations, system sizing, and contractor shop drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Approve materials, equipment, and technical submissions to ensure alignment with project specifications.
Oversee Installation, Testing & Commissioning
• Supervise electrical installations across all systems, ensuring correct routing, positioning, and integration.
• Monitor inspections, testing, and commissioning to verify system performance and readiness.
• Ensure compliance with national codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
Ensure Quality, Safety & Cross-Disciplinary Coordination
• Enforce quality control and adherence to occupational health and safety standards on-site.
• Coordinate electrical works with civil, structural, architectural, and MEP teams to prevent conflicts and delays.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during construction, ensuring high-quality execution.
Drive Reporting, Documentation & Risk Management
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, site inspection records, and progress updates.
• Review and validate as-built drawings and final project documentation.
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies to support timely project delivery.
Lead Site Teams & Build Technical Capability
• Supervise and coordinate site electrical teams, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards.
• Provide on-site technical guidance and training to contractors and technicians.
• Share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen internal team capability and future project delivery.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• With over 7 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering and construction supervision.
• Professional registration (e.g. Institution of Engineers) and relevant certifications (e.g. RURA) are an added advantage.
• Experience in CAD and design tools, electrical software, and QA/QC tools.
• Hands-on experience supervising electrical installations on construction sites.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including LV/MV distribution, grounding, lighting, and power systems.
• Effective communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an added advantage.
