Accountant, Accounting Manager

Location: Johannesburg Employment Type: Permanent | On-site A well-established organisation within a dynamic, lifestyle-driven industry is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its finance team in the Lethabong area (East Rand, Johannesburg). This opportunity would suit a detail-oriented accounting professional who has completed formal articles and is looking to grow within a structured finance environment. While an interest in the golf industry would be advantageous from a culture-fit perspective, it is not a requirement for the role. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Preparation and maintenance of trial balancesProcessing and reviewing journalsGeneral ledger reconciliationsAssisting with monthly management accountsSupporting year-end audit processesEnsuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controlsAssisting with payroll-related accounting functions (beneficial)Ad hoc finance and accounting support as requiredMinimum Requirements:Completion of SAIPA or CIMA articlesA relevant accounting qualification, such as:BCom AccountingBComptBAccEquivalent SA-recognised accounting degreeProven accounting experience post-articles or during articlesHands-on experience with trial balance preparation and journal entriesWorking knowledge of Xero accounting softwareSouth African accounting and reporting exposureBeneficial Experience:Payroll accounting exposureExperience in a commercial or retail environmentCompetencies & Attributes:Strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a teamGood time management and organisational skillsStrong communication skillsProactive and deadline-driven approachThis role offers an excellent opportunity for a junior accounting professional to gain further commercial exposure and grow within a supportive finance team.
