Purpose of the Post
Imperial College London, ranked 2nd in the QS World University rankings, is one of the world’s most international universities, committed to solving global challenges through science, innovation and collaboration through its ‘Science for Humanity’ mission. A flagship initiative of the university is the network of four Imperial Global hubs based in Accra (Ghana), Singapore, San Francisco (USA), and Bengaluru (India).
Imperial Global Ghana serves as a regional hub that strengthens research, education, and innovation partnerships by connecting Imperial College London with universities, government, industry, and civil society across Africa. Established as Imperial’s subsidiary company in Ghana, it supports the co‑creation of equitable, long‑term collaborations in priority areas such as medical diagnostics, vaccine manufacturing, sustainable cities, and entrepreneurial innovation, while building strong networks with alumni and emerging science and tech leaders. The hub also enhances Imperial’s global engagement by expanding student experience opportunities, deepening regional insights, and creating pathways for future academic, research, and career development.
Imperial Global Ghana is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications and Events Coordinator to strengthen Imperial College London’s presence and partnerships in Ghana. This role will focus on building visibility for Imperial Global Ghana’s research and innovation activities, supporting engagement with local academic, media, and innovation ecosystems, and developing communications materials that showcase Imperial’s impact in the region.
The postholder will support communications initiatives and event coordination specifically for Ghana and West Africa— working closely with Imperial Global colleagues, West Africa-based researchers, and partners. This role will act as an important touchpoint for Imperial colleagues based in London to ensure a steady flow of information and alignment with central activities and objectives. The role combines content creation, event and marketing support to enhance Imperial’s profile as a science and innovation leader in Ghana and West Africa.
Working closely with the Associate Director and Academic Director at Imperial Global Ghana and the Acting Head, Global Stakeholder Engagement in Imperial’s International Relations Office, the postholder will ensure that communications and engagement activities in Ghana align with Imperial Global’s broader strategy.
The position is based full-time in Ghana, at the offices of Imperial Global Ghana.
