ABOUT US
Angels Baby Sanctuary is a registered child and youth care centre dedicated to the welfare, protection, and development of babies and young children in need of care. We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and driven individual to join our team as House Manager.
THE ROLE
What You'll Be Doing
As House Manager, you will be the operational heart of the Sanctuary — overseeing staff, volunteers, baby welfare, administration, and fundraising, while ensuring we remain compliant with all Government requirements.
👥 Recruitment & Staff Management
– Drive the staff recruitment process
– Supervise all staff and manage incentives, wellness & team building
– Coordinate first aid & caregiver training
– Participate in bi-annual performance reviews (March & September)
– Manage leave administration and staff communication
🤝 Volunteers & Casuals
– Interview new volunteers & develop volunteer programmes
– Schedule volunteer shifts and ensure proper vetting
– Compile monthly duty rosters for staff, casuals & volunteers
– Supervise students completing practicals
🍼 Baby Welfare
– Monitor that all babies are well cared for
– Ensure developmental milestones are tracked per age
– Liaise with the social worker and supervisor on baby welfare
📋 Finance & Administration
– Manage petty cash and home expenses
– Handle DSD funding applications, CYCC registrations & monthly submissions
– Chair weekly meetings with supervisor, teacher & social worker
– Produce the quarterly Adopt-a-Cot newsletter
– Maintain the organisation's website
💛 Fundraising
– Coordinate and support fundraising activities
– Assist in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Skills & Experience
✓ Experience in a supervisory or management role
✓ Strong organisational and administrative skills
✓ Knowledge of DSD compliance and CYCC regulations (advantageous)
✓ Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team
✓ Experience working with or around children and babies
✓ Excellent communication skills — written and verbal
✓ Proficient in basic computer and web tasks
✓ First aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
✓ A warm, nurturing attitude and genuine passion for child welfare
✓ Ability to handle confidential information with discretion (POPIA)
