The Toll Plaza works Officer is responsible for the smooth operation, maintenance, and management of toll plaza facilities. The role ensures efficient toll collection, functionality of tolling systems and equipment, traffic flow management, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Toll Operations Management
· Oversee daily toll collection activities and ensure accuracy and accountability.
· Supervise toll booth attendants and shift operations.
· Ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize congestion at toll points.
· Monitor compliance with toll policies and procedures.
• Equipment s Systems Management
· Ensure proper functioning of tolling equipment such as:
o Automated toll collection systems o Ticketing machines and POS systems o Barriers, sensors, and CCTV systems
· Coordinate maintenance and repairs of all toll plaza equipment.
· Liaise with IT and technical teams for system upgrades and troubleshooting.
• Civil s Facility Maintenance
· Oversee maintenance of toll plaza infrastructure, including booths, canopies, pavements, and drainage systems.
· Ensure proper lighting, signage, and road markings within the toll area.
· Coordinate repairs and routine inspections of facilities.
• Financial Control s Reporting
· Monitor daily revenue collection and reconcile toll transactions.
· Ensure proper documentation and reporting of toll revenue.
· Identify and prevent revenue leakages or fraud.
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports.
• Health, Safety s Environment (HSE)
· Enforce safety procedures for staff and road users.
· Ensure proper traffic control measures and signage are in place.
· Respond to emergencies, accidents, or incidents within the toll plaza.
• Customer Service s Stakeholder Management
· Address customer complaints and inquiries professionally.
· Ensure a positive experience for road users at the toll plaza.
· Liaise with regulatory authorities and law enforcement agencies when required.
• Team Leadership s Supervision
· Manage and supervise toll attendants, security personnel, and support staff.
· Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
· Train staff on operational procedures, safety, and customer service.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Accuracy and accountability of toll revenue
· Traffic flow efficiency and reduced waiting time
· Equipment uptime and functionality
· Incident response time and safety compliance
· Customer satisfaction levels
· Reduction in revenue leakages
Qualifications s Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Transport Management, Business Administration, or related field.
· 8–10 years’ experience in toll operations, road infrastructure, or facility management.
· Experience with automated toll systems is an added advantage.
